Baker Street - in the Marylebone district of the City of Westminster, London city centre - forms part of the A41. It's most famous for its connection to the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, who lived at 221B Baker Street, an address that did not actually exist in Sherlock Holmes' era. Today, the address is a building housing the "Sherlock Holmes Museum"

Baker Street is named after builder William Baker who laid the street out in the 18th Century. Originally a high class residential address, today it is mainly occupied by commercial premises. Baker St is in postcode areas NW1/W1 and is a busy thoroughfare. The street is served by the London Underground's Baker Street tube station. Baker Street Station was the world's first underground station.
